The 17-year-old leg spinner will be the first cricketer from Nepal to play in the IPL. Lamichhane considers cricket to be 'oxygen' for him. It was his love and passion for the game that prompted the former Australian skipper, Michael Clarke, to mentor him and make him play for the Sydney club, Western Suburbs in 2016. Clarke, who spotted the spin teen when he was a coach in Hong Kong, reckons he has "outstanding potential".
Known as the Nepalese Warne, Lamichhane broke into the cricketing headlines in 2016 when he bagged a five-wicket haul against Ireland in the U-19 World Cup. With an impressive 17 wickets in six matches, he was the Man of the Tournament in the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 in 2018.
